I had a really nice weekend. Friday night I spent with my girlfriend. We actually stayed in for a change. She made me dinner and started teaching me to read music. Thank you, Amy! So item number 1: Everyone should make their spouse or bf/gf dinner and teach them something. If you don’t have a significant other find an insignificant other. I agreed to teach Amy how to program.
Saturday evening, Lauren, Stephanie, Amy, Ryan, Adam, and I went to the Morgan Street Brewery. It’s on the landing, but there is no cover charge. They brew their own beer and it’s damn good. The place is huge. It has a restaurant, several bars, a patio bar, a dance floor, and even a quiet room to sober up in. Go there. However for the second item I’ll be more generic. So item #2: If you live in St. Louis, go down to the landing sometime if you don’t already. I know there are a lot of other great places to go out to drink in the Loop or the Central West End or even West County, but for the love of God, go downtown sometime.
Sunday afternoon Amy, Cheyenne (her dog), and I went to Forest Park, found a grove of trees overlooking Art Hill, lay out a blanket, had some pastrami sandwhiches, ice-water, and fruit and then relaxed as the breeze cooled us off. So item number 3: Everyone should bring their dog (or borrow a dog if you don’t have one) and go to a park with a picnic lunch and a friend. Be sure to stay at least 2 hours. I know you can imagine it, maybe you’ve done it before, but really, when was the last time you had a picnic lunch at the park and afterwards just rested or napped? And I don’t mean in some distant memory, I mean like yesterday or last week. It does wonders for your body and soul.
