I flew to Kansas City with my girlfriend, Amy, and my roommate, Ryan, for Labor Day weekend. Click below for the gruesome details and lots of pics….
UPDATE Friday, September 6, 2002: Censored some pics at the request of someone who shall remain nameless.
We took the Metrolink to the airport Friday evening. Since our flight was on Southwest we didn’t have to deal with the main terminal which was really nice. The flight was less than an hour…much nicer than driving, not that I don’t like a good road trip. Amy sure seemed to enjoy it. Ryan and I were also amused. Lori picked us up from the airport and we headed back to their new flat on the Kansas side. We ate a pizza that Ben had ordered, chilled out, walked around in search of liquor and entertainment. Lori and Amy ended up hunting down a liquor store and we drank and watched Van Wilder.
Saturday we woke and to our delight Ryan had retrieved Krispy Kreme doughnuts. We drank coffee and devoured until we were sufficiently awake and satiated while watching various home improvement shows. We ate lunch at Old Chicago and had some delicious Boulevard Dry Stout and Thunderclouds. We found our way to the plaza and walked around, visiting stores and paused for pictures. Saturday evening we headed to Westport and went to a brewery/pub where we drank and played darts and pool.
Sunday we did various things. Lori, Amy, and I went down to the pool and swam for a while. Ryan and I went to a store that sells video games…Ryan purchased a few used Nintendo games. And we took naps. That night we went down to the plaza and drank at O’Dowds. Once again, we had some fine Boulevard Dry Stout. Everyone seemed quite happy that night. Lori and Amy really bonded as did the guys. The couples were happy and so was Ryan. Things got a bit crazy.
Monday we went to Jack Stack for some tasty KC Barbecue. We consumed more Boulevard stout. Mmmmm…I devoured massive quantities of baby back ribs. On the way out we marveled at the bull. Ben especially liked it. At this point it was about time to head home.
Whew…what a weekend…
