I left for Kansas City on Friday around 6pm. Traffic sucked on I-70 leaving St. Louis, but eventually we broke free of the pack and sped along. I passed the time by racing two other cars for a hundred miles or so. Sorry, Stephanie, if I freaked you out a bit. We stopped in Columbia to eat at Wendy’s.

We made it to Ben and Lori’s place a little after 10pm. Ben and Lori had Boulevard beer and cold mugs–God bless them.

The next day we walked around the plaza a bit and then ate at a very interesting Italian restaurant, Buca di Beppo where they serve family style: one entree is enough to feed 3 or 4 people. The place was in a basement (hence the name) and had very strange decor. The food was delicious. We ordered eggplant parmigiano and manicotti. We ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Later that night we went and shot some pool and then got some stout and pizza at Barley’s where they have 99 beers on tap.

On Sunday the weather was gorgeous so we stayed inside and watched Junk Yard MEGAWARS…At first we were just casually watching but we got sucked in and couldn’t leave the set for fear we’d never know whether the Russians’ weird-ass contraption would make it over the rocks or whether the Americans’ would float….Eventually the Americans won and we were able to leave the house. We walked over to Taco bell, ate a nutritious meal and then bought some quality merchandise at Dollar Tree. I also found a used copy of NHL 2002 for PS2 at a gaming store.

We walked back to the house and sat around outside in the sun for a while, played some Aerobee, and in general enjoyed the day. When we tired of that, we set off in search of ale. We went to the rooftop of O’Dowds Little Dublin pub, had a drink, then went to another bar that had patio seating and Boulevard Dry Stout. On the way back home we stopped at a grocery store and bought more liquor and then we grilled burgers. Mmmm…burgers, stufffed mushrooms, mac n’ cheese, fries and ale. Lori is quite the chef. We capped off the evening by watching Pulp Fiction.

On Monday we slept in and then ate a brunch at Denny’s. Then Stephanie and I hit the road, this time splitting the driving…..

I’ll update this story with a few pictures (though I didn’t take all that many) later on….
