Last night’s discussion went pretty well. We also decided that we would read A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking for the next meeting. You can find this book at libraries, bookstores, or purchase it at Amazon.com for as low as $5. We’ve set the date of the next discussion for 3 weeks, which will put it on July 17th at 8pm. Have you considered doing an on-line discussion using either a web forum or some sort of IM client? I would be interested in participating in something like that…

We could possibly do something like that. If we did, I’d want it to be in addition to the regular discussion, not a replacement for it. But I could definitely see something like that taking place. If nothing else, I could summarize, the day following the discussion, the points that were raised at the discussion and then open the floor to anyone posting comments attached to the story? I think it might be hard to organize some sort of realtime IM/IRC discussion with everyone, but the idea of having a threaded discussion might work really well. Also a mailing list might be another idea.

That sounds real good. I’d be interested in reading the books and discussing them on a web forum or something.
