After much frustration with PHPNuke, I finally dumped it in favour of Movable Type. I wrote some Perl scripts to convert the database tables for stories and comments to the new format. I’m still playing around with the stylesheet so the visual appearance may change a bit over the next week or so, but basically I think it’s ready. All old stories and comments should be present. As you may notice there are some “crack features” that are no longer present. You can no longer submit news items. There are no polls. There are no user accounts. To post a comment, you just enter your information and it can remember you using cookies. There are less “boxes” all over the place. But that’s the way I want it. I realized I was using pubcrawler.org primarily as an online journal and it just didn’t make sense to have all the other crap. Movable Type supports multiple blogs, so if you’d be interested in having an online journal here at some address like http://pubcrawler.org/yourname let me know. I’ll probably only entertain requests from close friends as I don’t have an infinite amount of space on my hosting server.

Please comment on the changes.
