I took the day off work today. But it was no vacation. This morning I went to Missouri Baptist Hospital where I got some bloodwork and an upper-GI. I nearly passed out while the nurse was drawing blood. I think she took 3 or 4 tubes and had a bit of trouble with one of the tubes. I wasn’t watching; the whole time I was staring the opposite direction trying to think about anything that had nothing to do with blood. Maybe I psyched myself out and tried too hard but my face grew pale and with a rush of adrenaline I collapsed further into the chair. I hate having my blood taken from me. The upper-GI was much more pleasant. It took quite a while and the barium solution they made me drink tasted nasty, but at least they didn’t remove any of my life-giving fluids from my body. The x-rays they took were “live”–that is I could see on the expensive Siemens monitor my intestines. Very weird. Did you know that the average human has 12 feet of small intestines?
After the procedures, I took my car to Meineke to have it looked at. The damage I did while driving on dirt roads this weekend was minimal. Something was bent and they straightened it. They did it in about 5 minutes and didn’t even charge me a dime. I highly recommend these guys if you ever need brakes, mufflers, or any other service they offer.
