The mono debates that keep coming up are getting rather old and fruitless. I very much doubt that either side will change the other’s mind. Red Hat will continue to stand behind the policy of not using Mono and Novell will continue to develop Mono and write applications for Mono. The bottom line is that it probably won’t be a part of the GNOME Project (at least for a while), but a lot of applications will be written for the Mono platform. Any patent or IP issues will be resolved if necessary. If you’re not convinced, then don’t use or support Mono. Meanwhile the rest of us will enjoy the benefits of the platform. And “the rest of us” is becoming an increasingly large and diverse group of people, including former windows developers, python developers, Java developers, and long time unix hackers.
