Well it was pretty obvious where this was going, even if the Cards were down 3-2 in the series. Those of us who have watched the Cards play all year long knew they would win two games at home to take it to the Fall Classic. Not to take anything away from the Astros; man did they play a fantastic series. St. Louis fans will never forget the names “Carlos Beltran” and “Brad Lidge”. Wow.

But we had a few weapons to battle those guys and even The Rocket couldn’t silence them. The fans went crazy in St. Louis tonight. At the bar I was at (Laclede Street Bar and Grill), complete strangers were hugging each other, kissing, crying. 17 years is a long time to go without making a World Series appearance when you are a franchise so richly blessed. When we drove downtown after the game, there was a constant sound of car horns honking, people screaming, fans ecstatic. I think I’ve hugged more people tonight than I have in the whole year until this point. This is what makes sports great. It unites a town. And there is no better sport than baseball at doing just that…

I imagine a lot of Boston fans haven’t really paid much attention to the Cardinals this year. Well, time to start.

I love Boston. I’ve been there many times. I lived near there at one point. I almost moved there a year ago. Great town. I was cheering them on all post-season, hoping they’d win the ALCS. They did the unthinkable and won after being down 3-0. They silenced the abominable Yankee fans. If I ever move out of St. Louis, Boston will be at the top of my list of places in which to relocate. But at my heart, I am a Cardinals fan. And I can’t wait for the World Series to begin on Saturday.

Bring it on, Boston.

P.S. I’m not afraid to say it: All you bitches that stayed home and didn’t come out to watch game seven, missed out in a big way. Did your girlfriend or couch make it worth it? You missed St. Louis at its best. Remember the days of Ozzie Smith, Vince Coleman, hearing “The Heat is On” through your radio? It all came back tonight, downtown.

It’s not too late, though. The best is yet to come. Wake up from your Suburban slumber and come alive!

Last time it checked the Astros have never been to the World Series in their whole existence, 43 years. I knew the ‘Stros would not win once Edmunds made that awwsome catch to save two runs from scoring. No sour grapes from this Astros fan, your Cards played a great series, one for good baseball memories for many years to come. The real question is how much the Yankees will pay to get Beltran.

Good luck with the Red Sox!
