I don’t work at Novell so I’m not going to post a Hula Logo image, but I am pretty excited about the announcement. We definitely need some innovation in this area. I hope in particular it solves the one bloody annoying problem I’ve had for ages: I am unable to access (read and write) the same calendar from multiple locations. Given that we are in the year 2005, this is pretty absurd. Of course, there are hacks around this, but nothing is as easy as it should be. You can solve the mail problem with imap, the contact problem with LDAP, but the lack of a solution for a central open source calendar server has been troubling. CalDAV seems like the solution and Hula may just be able to put all the pieces together in a way that provides fertile ground for innovation.

Hey, Jamin. That was a pretty weird experience that we both happened to be at the same place at the same time and you happened to talk to Angie and she caught your name. Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.
