The Bradshaws have been staying at my parents’ house for a couple days and last night we all had dinner together. It was good to see them and it brought back a lot of memories. It’s hard to believe it’s been over five years since they left to go back to England and work at L’Abri. Wade has a natural gift for stimulating interesting conversation and we found ourselves talking about everything from poker to screenplay writing. I would love to travel to the other side of the pond someday and study at English L’Abri. The only thing that has really held me back is being tied down financially: lease, car payments, IRA, school loans.

  1. What would our story be about? I’ve got some ideas…

  2. I’d love to hear yours. Mine right now are vague. I understand what I want to do more emotionally than intellectually.

  3. Yeah, those types of films tend to bore me. Are you really serious about going into film or play writing? Maybe you could take a skills inventory test?

  4. I probably should take some sort of test to see if I’m even remotely qualified in terms of how I’m made up. I don’t know that you could say I’m “serious” about it, but I have been giving it serious thought, at any rate. I don’t know why but for some reason the idea of going into script writing keeps coming back into my head. I like to write. I like films. I constantly watch films and get ideas for a flim that I would create if I had the means. So I guess what I’ve been thinking is not so much a career change, but looking into taking a class or two and reading some books on the subject. And then perhaps trying my hand at it and licensing under a Creative Commons license so that others could modify, use, read, whatever…if for some crazy reason they felt so inclined.

  5. As long as you’ve got some better ideas than the old ones we kicked around for What The Hell, you should be fine ;) Not that WTH didn’t have some good ideas….

  6. I never heardof that website. We’ll have to get together sometime soon and brainstorm.

  7. Jim: What good ideas did we have for WTH? The special effects were sweet like the burning car scene, but I don’t really recall much else.

Laura: Let’s do it. Maybe in a couple weeks when I’m more settled into my flat.

  8. sounds good to me.

  9. Wacky, everyone is moving at the same time!

  10. There were TONS of good ideas. Sort of. Well, maybe mediocre ideas. Okay, the ideas sucked, but they were funny at the time. Mostly.

  11. I was once fortunate enough to spend a short time at that L’Abri. I highly recommend it for anyone who might be inclined.
