I had a blast in Louisville this weekend. It was only a 4-hour drive, the weather was perfect, Mrs. Hinkebein’s food was amazing and everyone I met was friendly. Couldn’t ask for much else. Friday night we went to a couple of Irish pubs to kick off the weekend.
Chris, Kathie, and Amy at O’Sheas
Rebecca made it!
Saturday morning we pre-drank to save money. Chris and I split a half-pint of Woodford Reserve, a very smooth Kentucky Bourbon.
Dan’s ready
As soon as we got to the infield we headed straight for the Mint Julep stand. Some in our group didn’t like them but I thought they were delicious. The combination of fresh mint leaves and Bourbon may not sound natural but it really works.
Let’s take a picture before everyone gets lost
We couldn’t afford these seats
Relaxing in the shade
There were also horse races
Finished the evening at Fourth Street Live
Thanks, Dan, for inviting us and tell your parents thanks for their amazing hospitality and all that great southern cooking. I definitely hope to go back next year. You can check out the rest of the pictures in my Kentucky Derby gallery.

Looks like you had a great time! By the way Amy is very attractive, single by chance?
May 9th, 2005 at 12:43 pm
I think so.
May 9th, 2005 at 1:04 pm
Your site is great! Photos are good… and you did a pretty good job at not posting any of me (except two of them, but since I can’t do anything about it I will let it slide)
Yes, Amy is single and if you are interested I have a small application for you to fill out. As her best friend it is my duty to weed out anyone who might not be properly qualified.
I’m kidding of course. Anyway… nice site Jamin!
May 9th, 2005 at 1:07 pm
I tried to take more of you, Stephanie, but you kept getting out of the picture or grabbing my camera.
It was great meeting you, by the way, Stephanie. Sorry again for waking you up when Dan and I came in late…
May 9th, 2005 at 1:18 pm
Lot of fun! I usually don’t dance for the younger crowd…my niche is the retirement communities and old folks homes. Look for my upcoming appearances at a rest home or cemetery near you. I bring my own ambulance and defibrillator.
May 9th, 2005 at 1:34 pm
The pic Chris is referring to can be found here.
May 9th, 2005 at 1:42 pm
There was a reason for me avoiding the camera! I’m more comfortable behind one than in front of one. Let me lose another 20 pounds then I’ll let you click away (clothed of course
I’ll leave the strip teases to Chris) It was great to meet you too! By the way… I like the blonde hair and short wiskers.. good look for you. Oh and I wasn’t at all upset about being awoken.. I had already got 6 hours of sleep when you guys came in. It’s amazing how you and Dan found a church open so late at night! (you said parents can see these right?)
May 9th, 2005 at 1:49 pm
Apparently the churches are open until 6am in Louisville.
May 9th, 2005 at 1:52 pm
I think those churches are STILL praying for us….probably taking $1 donations as well….
May 9th, 2005 at 1:56 pm
I just started looking through the rest of your site and I grew up a street over from Natalie DeLucia. I will e-mail you privately on that and my thoughts of her though.
May 9th, 2005 at 2:09 pm
So did you guys sing many praises to the lord when you went to “church” that night?
May 9th, 2005 at 2:30 pm
I was a good boy - I said my prayers and passed out…er…went to bed..
May 9th, 2005 at 2:39 pm
You were passed out… sleeping… when they went to “church” weren’t you?
May 9th, 2005 at 2:42 pm
Yeah, we tried to convince ya to go out to Fourth Street Live but you did the right thing and slept.
May 9th, 2005 at 2:46 pm
Are you trying to say that you didn’t have fun?? I thought all guys liked to watch the “choir” “sing” Okay… that’s enough. Getting a little rediculous. I’m sure everyone has figured out what I’m talking about by now…
May 9th, 2005 at 2:52 pm
The whole weekend was fun. I just should have called it a night after Fourth Street Live…
May 9th, 2005 at 2:57 pm
Yeah, I don’t know how you guys did it… I almost fell down trying to get off the couch to come talk to you that night!
May 9th, 2005 at 3:07 pm
I was OOOOOOOOut! After all that food for dinner - and numerous Mint Julips..and beer..and whatever..I fell out bad! That was the end of it…but I sure felt great the next morning!!
May 9th, 2005 at 3:13 pm
Let me know the next time you go Karaoke! I love to karaoke…not that I’m the greatest singer… definately no Natalie, but it’s alot of fun anyway! I want to hear you guys sing!
May 9th, 2005 at 3:20 pm
Sorry.. my thoughts are all scattered today, really busy at work and I had just read something on the site about Karaoke… but I know that Dan, Chris, Jamin and I all do that sort of thing…so maybe we can all plan to go do that one night… I live down the street from Sybergs on Gravois or there is always Johnny Gitto’s which has Karaoke Thursday-Sunday.
May 9th, 2005 at 3:25 pm
Johnny Gitto’s actually has Karaoke on Wednesday too. Chris and I have been there the past two weeks singing…And of course Syberg’s is always a hit.
May 9th, 2005 at 3:33 pm
Oh yeah… I forgot about that… Tony is there on Wednesdays (quite possibly very sad… I’m a regular there) I haven’t been on a Wednesday in quite some time. I used to go more often when my friend Jen was living in St. Louis. That girl had some lungs on her. I ALWAYS had to sing right after her. Anyway, Rick is there most of the other nights… every other friday he gets someone to fill in for him.
May 9th, 2005 at 3:43 pm
There is another KJ (Karaoke Jockey) named Rick, which is the guy that is at Syberg’s on Gravois on Thursdays… I’m a Karaoke whore. His wife worked at the same Mortgage company Amy and I both worked for.
May 9th, 2005 at 4:04 pm
Let’s do it!! I’m ready!! I’m looking to expand my horizons…
May 9th, 2005 at 4:09 pm
Do what…??? YOU need to clarify yourself, because I will NEVER put anything past you! hehehe… let me know.. I up for Karaoke this week!
May 9th, 2005 at 4:33 pm
I’m ready too… Wednesday?….for Karaoke that is…. You’ve got me all wrong - I’m shy and innocent..and mild mannered… the truth is… I have never been with a girl..
May 9th, 2005 at 4:37 pm
You are a big liar!!!! You have to PROMISE that if we go to karaoke that you will keep ALL your clothes on!!! oh crap… Wednesday might be bad…just remembered I told the my fiance I would drive him to his mom’s for a visit…. I will have to get back about Wednesday!
May 9th, 2005 at 4:44 pm
It’s true!! I just discovered ladies and dancing this weekend!! Before this weekend I was just a small town boy…then I met Dan..and now…I’m a DAWG!!! Ok - I promise to keep my clothes on..for the first two songs. If Wednesday is bad we can shoot for later in the week….
May 9th, 2005 at 5:01 pm
I have never met a virgin who has… nevermind… I’m not going to say it, but you know what I’m talking about… and I KNOW you are lying!!! (not first hand, but I still do not believe you!)
May 9th, 2005 at 5:04 pm
Did you mean to say you never met a virgin that was as sweet and innocent as me? That is so nice of you to say!!! I’ll buy you a drink for that!!!
May 9th, 2005 at 6:16 pm
LOL… Yeah, that’s what I was saying!
Mentiroso!
But I’ll accept that drink!
May 9th, 2005 at 9:57 pm
Great, Amy is single! Where is she from?
May 9th, 2005 at 10:01 pm
All of us live in St. Louis, MO.
May 10th, 2005 at 12:46 am
I just noticed something that stuck me as quite odd. All your friends are white. Why is that?
May 10th, 2005 at 7:55 am
All of my friends are not white. The only people I knew in the group we went down with were Dan, Chris, and Colin. Dan and Chris are buddies I met through work, and I met Colin through Dan. Those are just the people that happened to be going with us. A lot of Dan’s friends backed out and couldn’t make it.
Anyway, I’m not sure if your comment is one of general curiosity or if you’re trying to make a snide remark. I shouldn’t have to justify myself to a stranger but if you must know I dated a Taiwanese girl and had a black roommate. I live in a neighbourhood that is very racially mixed. I have several black and Asian friends now.
I don’t judge people by the colour of the skin. Please don’t judge me by a few pics you saw on a blog entry.
May 10th, 2005 at 8:12 am
I’m not white Jamin.
May 10th, 2005 at 8:55 am
Yeah, niether am I!!! I’m more of an off-white…peach colored….and was more red after a day in the sun, if we’re getting technical.
May 10th, 2005 at 8:58 am
You’re lucky. I wouldn’t have graced that ignorant remark with a reply. Why would you even notice that? Maybe it’s something that plagues your own mind. People are too worried about skin color and it’s sad that something like this is still mentioned in 2005. It just so happens that as circumstances played out, there happened to be no person of another background with us that day. Does that mean that we shouldn’t have gone? Does a group of friends now have to be racially diversified to go out in public? I think making a comment as you have shows ignorance and I feel sorry for you.
May 10th, 2005 at 10:34 am
May 10th, 2005 at 10:36 am
I’m sorry Jamin, I have to apologize. I am really opinionated and sometimes I have a hard time biting my tongue. I just thought it a little tacky for someone to write something like that in someone else’s site.
May 10th, 2005 at 10:43 am
Stephanie: Thanks for speaking your mind. Unless someone is spamming or saying extremely hateful things, I don’t moderate or delete comments. Feel free to say whatever…As for my day, it’s been busy. We’re moving to a new office at work today.
May 10th, 2005 at 12:30 pm
My day has been pretty crazy too.. I just had a wrestle with a paper shredder… the shredder won!
May 10th, 2005 at 12:59 pm
Stephanie it sounds like you could do that Office Space thing!! ‘Pc Load Letter…what the F doeas that mean!!” My day is great - for the most part!!
May 10th, 2005 at 1:12 pm
You REALLY like that movie don’t you? It was a good movie… my favorite is ah God, can’t think of his name in the movie… “I could burn the building down” guy. (And I probably miss quoted the movie… sorry)
May 10th, 2005 at 1:13 pm
misquoted?? WhatEVERRRRR… Amy will probably correct that. I’m forever editing her e-mails
Aren’t I Amy?
May 10th, 2005 at 1:15 pm
So where are you moving your office to Jamin?
May 10th, 2005 at 1:27 pm
You are referring to “Milton” My favorite of the bunch too…Well him and Lumburg.. “Uhhyeah…I’m going to have to ask you to come in Saturday…yeah…that’d be great..” So you are the editor Stephanie?
May 10th, 2005 at 1:38 pm
Yes, but I try to refrain from editing work by people I just met… so you’re safe for now.
May 10th, 2005 at 2:23 pm

May 10th, 2005 at 2:25 pm
Good lord you people don’t work do you? Chris you met me and now your a DAWG? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…… I’d go ahead and label that comedy platinum. That won’t even have to wait the standard 5 year rule to label a previous statement platinum. I guess I have quite an effect on peeps.
May 10th, 2005 at 2:36 pm
This is getting kind of ridiculous. We’re using a blog comment system like an instant messenger. I’m jamingray47 on AIM and jamin47 on yahoo IM.
Stephanie: We moved our office to a new building about 3 blocks away from the old one, in the Westport area.
May 10th, 2005 at 2:44 pm
“Stripper Chris” You’re CRAZY!!!! (P.S. that is what I’m calling you from now on… catchy huh?
HINK!!! So glad to see you!!!
May 10th, 2005 at 2:45 pm
I don’t have instant messenger…
May 10th, 2005 at 2:48 pm
Let me restate… I cannot download an instant messenger to the system… they freak. (whispered: everything I do is monitored)
