Well…I finally have power restored at my apartment. I hope the rest of you in the area get yours back soon if you haven’t already.
It was surreal. My friends and I sat around my coffee table, discussing a David Sedaris book, eating soup, and complaining about the heat (Perhaps soup was not the best choice for our book discussion dinner). Noticing through the window the sky darken, we stepped outside to have a look. It was as if God sneezed…trash cans and an animal carrier danced like tumbleweed. Dust blew from the ground three stories up into our wide open eyes. Rather than quick bolts of lightning followed after a delay by thunder, I saw massive webs of lighting which flashed for several seconds and left almost no sound. The sky was a dark orange. Bemused, I stared as a ball of energy dashed across a power line and then my home went dark for 5 days.
Poor Lori’s car…

I am amazed by how quickly our way of life can be destroyed.
