I downloaded the free VMware Player and installed it on my work laptop this weekend. It lets you run a pre-made virtual machine. I took the browser appliance VM which is based on Ubuntu Hoary and upgraded it with apt-get to Breezy, installing some new packages to the image:

I’ve been using Bloglines to read my news for a while now. Given that I use several different machines, a web-based feed reader is perfect. No matter what machine I’m at Bloglines knows what RSS feeds I’m subscribed to and what news I’ve already read. It allows me to organize by category, [...]

Owen Taylor’s talk on Cairo
Jeff Waugh’s inspirational “10×10″ talk
Miguel de Icaza’s keynote
Davyd Madeley’s talk on the future of [...]

I don’t work at Novell so I’m not going to post a Hula Logo image, but I am pretty excited about the announcement. We definitely need some innovation in this area. I hope in particular it solves the one bloody annoying problem I’ve had for ages: I am unable to access (read and [...]

I’ve created a patch to add printing support in Tomboy.

printing my shopping list

There was some some discussion about where to add printing in the interface. Originally I had added a toolbar button, then to avoid clutter in the toolbar, a context menu item. Personally I like Christopher Orr’s suggestion:
