Last night I finished up a patch to the gaim-remote plugin so that I can send aim URIs to set myself away, such as:
gaim-remote uri “aim:goaway?message=having a beer at mcgurks”
Added to that a little procmail recipe with some Perl glue and now I can change my gaim away message from my mobile phone. Also [...]
My friend, Adam, posted the best little-documented GNOME tip I’ve seen in a while.
Some friends and I are planning on going out Friday to Helen Fitzgerald’s. I’ve won two poker tournaments in a row so I now have $100 tab to spend there. And since GNOME 2.8 is out it seemed like a perfect opportunity to host a GNOME 2.8 Release Party. If you’re in [...]
I just thought I’d take a minute to thank a few people for their posts I’ve noticed on planet.g.o recently.

that Linux needs a “group of smart, dedicated people in positions of
power who care about making a GUI [...]
Christian: I agree that it would be a good idea for one of the nautilus maintainers or usability experts to write up a “spatial advocacy and justification” article. In the meantime, you might enjoy this article which goes into great depth on the idea of “spatial interfaces”.
Woke up to the tragic news of Mark Finlay’s passing. I really thought he was going to pull through. He posted an entry on his weblog less than two weeks ago to which I posted a comment. Mark always had such passion and energy and I thought he was destined for greatness. [...]
